Relieving hemorrhoid pain at home using simple methods

Often painful hemorrhoids interfere with work, rest, and living fully. Anesthetic ointment for hemorrhoids will temporarily “turn off” the transmission of pain impulses from the source of inflammation. Ointments with an analgesic effect are used when you need to quickly relieve pain from inflamed hemorrhoids. Pain relief medications do not affect the cause of the disease and are not monotherapy.

How to relieve pain from hemorrhoids with ointment

Ointment is a dosage form for external use. The ointment recipe includes one or more active substances, a structural base of petroleum jelly and color- and odor-correcting additives. Anesthetic ointment for hemorrhoids contains a local anesthetic as an active ingredient, which is combined with anti-inflammatory, emollient, and healing agents.

An ointment remedy for the external type of disease is applied in a thin layer to the skin around the anus. For the internal form of the disease, the medicine is applied inside the anal canal with a special applicator attached to the tube. Cheap products do not come with an applicator. Instead, at home, they use an insulin syringe without a needle - take 2 ml of ointment and inject it into the anus.

Complex pain-relieving ointment for hemorrhoids Aurobin acts in several ways:

  • lidocaine is an anesthetic that can quickly relieve pain from hemorrhoids;
  • prednisolone is a hormonal anti-inflammatory drug;

Aurobin helps at stages 2-3 of the disease. Aurobin is indicated for diseases of any form - both external and internal.

The anesthetic benzocaine, when applied topically, blocks nerve sensitivity. The effect of the ointment begins 2-4 minutes after application. Eliminates itching and burning of the anal area. Ointments and suppositories from the Relief line are recommended for use in acute cases to relieve severe pain.

Proctosan

Ointment for rectal or external use Proctosan consists of anesthetic components - lidocaine and bufexomac, drying agents - complex compounds of titanium and bismuth. Proctosan relieves pain, fights inflammation, burning, and itching. Anal fissures heal quickly when using the drug Proctosan. The action of the ointment is aimed at relieving pain, itching, and swelling.

One of the new products of modern pharmacology is an anesthetic spray. Sprays are convenient to use, they do not stain your hands and evenly irrigate the treated area.

Spray with lidocaine 10%

Spray 10% with lidocaine is not the drug of choice for pain relief for hemorrhoids. It is intended for external anesthesia in dentistry, ENT practice, and gynecology. However, it also has no direct contraindications for hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids, accompanied by severe pain when walking or sitting, can be numbed with lidocaine spray. The use of such remedies is only allowed in cases where severe pain from hemorrhoids has taken you by surprise, and there are no other medications at hand.

Systemic painkillers

Systemic medications can be used for pain relief for hemorrhoids. These include tablet and injection forms of drugs. Among the tablets used for inflammation of hemorrhoids, two groups can be divided into two groups: drugs with only analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects and drugs that primarily have a therapeutic effect, reducing the symptoms of the disease and, as a result, pain.

The first group includes drugs belonging to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, non-narcotic analgesics, and antispasmodics. They quickly relieve pain and have a general effect on the entire body. These drugs cannot be taken for a long time and, in addition, they have a number of contraindications. For exacerbation of hemorrhoids, the following drugs may be prescribed:

  • Pentalgin;
  • Nise;
  • Papaverine;
  • Ketanov;
  • Ibuprofen;
  • Nise;
  • Ketorolac et al.

Important: In the presence of hemorrhoidal bleeding, drugs from the NSAID group should be taken with extreme caution, as they affect blood clotting.

The drugs of the second group are most effective for hemorrhoids. They not only relieve pain, but also influence the cause of the disease. Their use in the initial stages of the disease helps prevent its further development and progression. Medicines included in this group improve venous blood flow, increase the tone of the veins, reduce vascular permeability, which leads to a reduction in hemorrhoids, reduction of swelling, inflammation and the disappearance of pain. Such drugs include:

  • Detralex;
  • Chemoroidin;
  • Phlebodia;
  • Ginkor Fort;
  • Vasocket;
  • Venarus;
  • Pylex;
  • Asklezan A et al.

Detralex is an effective tablet for the treatment of hemorrhoids, belonging to the group of venotonics and angioprotectors

Important: If symptoms of hemorrhoids appear, you should consult a doctor. Self-prescribing medications can have serious consequences.

In particularly severe cases of inflammation of the hemorrhoids, in the absence of the desired analgesic effect from the medications taken, novocaine blockade is performed. It consists of administering several injections of novocaine around the anus.

Rules for the use of ointments, gels, creams for hemorrhoids

When using gels, creams, ointments for hemorrhoidal pathology, follow a number of recommendations:

  • consult a doctor before use;
  • used after bowel movements and perineal hygiene;
  • single dose of ointment – 1-2 grams;
  • the ointment is applied externally or introduced into the anal canal;
  • smear hemorrhoids in the morning and evening;
  • course of ointment treatment of hemorrhoids 7-14 days.

The appropriateness of prescribing a particular drug is determined on the basis of an examination by a proctologist, laboratory test data, and hardware studies.

The mechanism of pain in hemorrhoids

With hemorrhoidal disease, certain changes occur in the hemorrhoids. The outflow of blood in the venous plexuses is disrupted, as a result of which the walls of the vessels become thinner and bulge due to the constant pressure of the blood accumulated in them. The resulting cracks in the anus lead to the formation of adhesions, non-healing wounds and ulcers. Damage to the integrity of the mucous membrane is provoked by the appearance of drops of scarlet blood or heavy jet bleeding.

Hemorrhoids are considered one of the most common proctological diseases.

An obsessive, persistent, dull pain in the anal area accompanies the patient during the chronic course of the disease. Most often, it is pain that brings a person to the doctor.

Exacerbation of the disease and, accordingly, increased pain is caused by provocative factors:

- increased physical activity, heavy lifting;

- prolonged constipation;

— pregnancy and the birth process;

When the internal localization of the nodes falls out, an attack of acute pain occurs, which goes away only after the hemorrhoidal cone is reduced. Pain also appears due to inflammation of the hemorrhoidal ring and soft tissues around it, with necrosis of unreduced nodes. In this case, hyperthermia and corresponding changes in laboratory tests (leukocytosis, increased ESR) are added. Frequent bleeding causes the development of anemia.

The development of hemorrhoids may be accompanied by bleeding and prolapse of hemorrhoids
